TC FOOTBALL FALLS TO LAPEL IN SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. The Triton Central Tigers’ postseason run came to an end Friday night in the IHSAA Class 2A Sectional #38 championship, falling 28-15 to Lapel on the road. The host Bulldogs struck early, taking a 21-0 lead by the middle of the second quarter. Triton Central battled back, getting on the scoreboard in the second quarter when junior quarterback Matthew Wilkins connected with Braden Brown on a 29-yard touchdown pass. The Tigers converted the two-point attempt to cut the deficit to 21-8 at half. The Tigers continued to fight in the second half. In the third quarter, Wilkins found Henry Kemper on a 25-yard touchdown strike, and Nick Tormoehlen added the extra point to bring Triton Central within 21-15. Despite the momentum shift, Lapel sealed the game with a touchdown in the fourth quarter, securing the 28-15 win and the sectional championship. Triton Central finishes the 2025 season with a 10-2 record, including a perfect 5-0 mark in Hoosier Legends Conference play to earn the conference championship.
