TC GIRLS BASKETBALL ROLLS PAST GCA; JV FALLS TO CENTER GROVE. The Triton Central girls basketball program split its home doubleheader Thursday night, with the varsity delivering a dominant 73-35 win over Greenwood Christian while the junior varsity squad came up short against Center Grove. Varsity: Triton Central 73, Greenwood Christian 35 After a slow-paced first quarter that ended with Triton Central on top 8-6, the Tigers erupted offensively and never looked back. A 24-point second quarter pushed TC ahead 32-18 at halftime, and the Tigers continued to widen the gap behind suffocating defense and transition scoring. By the end of the third, the lead had ballooned to 49-26 before TC closed out a commanding 38-point victory. Maryrose Felling powered the offense with a game-high 27 points while adding seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Quinn King put together another near triple-double with 18 points, six assists, eight steals, and four rebounds. Rylee Pruitt turned in a strong performance with 11 points, while Kate Collier added seven. Layla Compton contributed all over the floor with five points, four rebounds, four assists, and five steals. Cheyenne Allen scored five points and recorded a block. The win moves the varsity to 1-1 on the season. JV: Center Grove 37, Triton Central 29 After a slow start, the JV Tigers finished the quarter on a run to lead 9-6 after the first quarter, but Center Grove’s defensive adjustments shifted the momentum as TC trailed 14-13 at the half and 21-15 entering the fourth. Triton Central made a late push, scoring 14 in the final quarter, but CG held on to hand the Tigers their first loss of the season. Ryn West led TC with nine points, followed by Eliana Joy with seven. Madison Swisher and Hayden McMichael each scored six, and Anna Kemper added two. The JV squad now sits at 1-1. Up Next Triton Central returns to action Saturday at home against Eastern Hancock. The JV game begins at 6 PM, followed by varsity at 7:30 PM.
