GIRLS BASKETBALL VS. MONROVIA (11/21)

TC GIRLS BASKETBALL SWEEPS MONROVIA; VARSITY WINS OVERTIME THRILLER. The Triton Central girls basketball teams earned a clean sweep Friday night at home, highlighted by a 66-64 overtime victory in the varsity contest and a dominant 52-13 win by the junior varsity squad. Both teams opened Hoosier Legends Conference play with victories. Varsity: Triton Central 66, Monrovia 64 (OT) Triton Central edged Monrovia in a back-and-forth matchup that required overtime to determine the outcome. The teams were tied 13-13 after one quarter before the Tigers moved ahead 31-28 at halftime. TC expanded the lead to 49-41 at the end of the third quarter, but Monrovia rallied in the fourth to force a 59-59 tie at the end of regulation. The Tigers held on in the extra period behind a strong defensive effort and timely scoring to secure the two-point victory. Maryrose Felling led all scorers with 30 points and added seven rebounds and six steals. Quinn King finished with 19 points, five assists, four steals and three rebounds. JV: Triton Central 52, Monrovia 13 In the junior varsity game, Triton Central controlled the action from start to finish. The Tigers opened with a 16-0 first quarter and held a 27-7 halftime lead. The advantage grew to 33-11 after three quarters before TC closed out the 39-point victory. The Tigers were led by Hayden McMichael and Peyton Fillippinie with 11 points each. Ryn West and Eliana Joy added nine points apiece, while Anna Kemper and Madison Swisher each scored six. The JV squad improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Triton Central JV team travels to Morristown on Monday for a 6 PM game. The varsity Tigers will face Morristown on the road Wednesday at 6 PM.
