TC GIRLS BASKETBALL BEATS NEW PAL IN OVERTIME THRILLER. Triton Central’s varsity girls basketball team pulled off a road win Tuesday night, defeating New Palestine 58–57 in overtime in a back-and-forth battle. The Dragons held a slim 16–15 edge after the first quarter, but Triton Central responded to take a 30–28 lead into halftime. The Tigers continued to control the tempo in the third quarter, extending their advantage to 37–33. New Palestine rallied late to force overtime, knotting the score at 47–47 at the end of regulation. In the extra period, Triton Central made the plays it needed on both ends of the floor to escape with the one-point victory. Quinn King led the Tigers with a game-high 21 points, while Kate Collier added 11 and Maryrose Felling finished with 10. Lexi Eubanks chipped in nine points, Layla Compton scored four, and Cheyenne Allen added three to round out the scoring. With the win, Triton Central improves to 13–3 on the season. In the junior varsity game, New Palestine defeated Triton Central 42–31. The Dragons built an early lead and maintained control throughout the contest. Anna Kemper and Laiyla McLane led the Tigers with six points apiece, while Maddie Burnett added five. Peyton Fillippinie scored four, and Hayden McMichael, Rylee Pruitt, Kenzie Hoover, and Ryn West rounded out the scoring. The TC JV squad now stands at 11–4 on the year. Triton Central will be back home Thursday night, hosting Northwest Warriors Homeschool. The junior varsity game is set for 6 PM, followed by the varsity contest at 7:30 PM.
