TC BOYS BASKETBALL SWEEPS MONROVIA Triton Central turned in a strong defensive performance Tuesday night, pulling away in the second half to defeat Monrovia 45-34 in a Hoosier Legends Conference matchup. With the win, the Tigers improve to 17-3 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 3-0. The game was tightly contested early, as the teams were deadlocked 12-12 at the end of the first quarter. Triton Central began to gain separation in the second period, holding Monrovia to just four points while building a 21-16 halftime lead. The Tigers extended their advantage in the third quarter, pushing the margin to 34-26 heading into the final frame. TC’s defense continued to clamp down in the fourth, limiting Monrovia’s scoring opportunities and securing the 11-point road victory. Eli Sego led the way offensively with 19 points. Henry Kemper added seven points, while Grant Long finished with six. Brody Hartman and Brayden Hoover each contributed five points, and Jackson Faust chipped in three to round out the scoring. JV Tigers Roll The junior varsity squad also delivered a convincing performance, defeating Monrovia 47-26 to improve to 12-6 on the season. Triton Central jumped out to a 14-8 lead after the first quarter and broke the game open in the second, outscoring Monrovia 17-2 to take a commanding 31-10 halftime advantage. The Tigers continued to build on that lead in the third quarter before closing out the 21-point win. Landon Bailey led the JV Tigers with 11 points. Chace Calderone added seven, while Owen Hornberger scored six. Dominic Moore and Dylan Showalter each had four points, Julius Schlottmann and Jackson Ratliff scored three apiece, and Conner Eubanks and Brayden Davis each chipped in one. Triton Central returns home Friday night to host Beech Grove in another Hoosier Legends Conference matchup. The JV game tips off at 6 PM, followed by the varsity at 7:30 PM.
