Anniston Evans followed with a solid straight-sets victory at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-4, while Zhibek Zhumaly battled through a competitive first set before pulling away for a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3. At No. 2 doubles, Estelle Gearlds and Cadence Roberts delivered a steady 6-4, 6-1 win to complete the shutout. The junior varsity team also found success against Greenwood, earning a 3-2 victory. Ellie Gast and Morgan Fisher each pulled out dramatic tiebreak wins in singles, while Lexi Poole added another point with an 8-5 decision. Triton Central carried that momentum into its second match of the day, defeating Pendleton Heights 4-1. Once again, the Tigers’ singles lineup proved to be the difference. Felling dominated at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win, while Evans controlled her match at No. 2, 6-1, 6-3. Zhumaly showed resilience at No. 3 singles, grinding out a 7-5, 6-4 victory to complete the singles sweep. Although the Tigers dropped a hard-fought match at No. 1 doubles in a 12-10 super tiebreak, they responded at No. 2 doubles where Gearlds teamed with Collier to secure a 6-2, 6-3 win and clinch the team victory. The JV squad capped off the day in dominant fashion against Pendleton Heights with a 5-0 sweep. Gast, Fisher, and Poole each cruised in singles, while the doubles team of Caydence Stout and Keely O’Gara added another win to keep the Tigers perfect at that level. With strong performances across both varsity and junior varsity lineups, Triton Central continues to build early-season momentum. The Tigers will look to keep their unbeaten streak alive when they return to action Monday evening at Shelbyville, with matches set to begin at 5 PM.
