TC GIRLS TENNIS SWEEPS SHELBYVILLE, STAYS UNBEATEN. Triton Central’s girls tennis team continued its strong start to the season Monday night, earning a 5-0 sweep on the road at Shelbyville to improve to 3-0 overall. The Tigers were once again powered by their consistent singles lineup, which delivered three key victories to set the tone early. At No. 1 singles, Maryrose Felling battled through a competitive match, pulling out a 7-5, 6-4 win over Ava Muckerheide. Anniston Evans added another point at No. 2 singles with a steady 6-3, 6-3 victory, while Zhibek Zhumaly controlled her match at No. 3, winning 6-0, 6-4 to complete the singles sweep. Triton Central’s doubles teams continued their dominant play to finish off the shutout. At No. 1 doubles, Kate Collier and Neve Kahler handled their opponents with ease, winning 6-2, 6-1. The No. 2 doubles team of Estelle Gearlds and Cadence Roberts was equally impressive, cruising to a 6-0, 6-1 victory to secure the team win. The junior varsity match provided plenty of excitement, with Triton Central edging Shelbyville 5-4 in a tightly contested battle. Morgan Fisher highlighted the JV effort with a thrilling 8-7 (6) tiebreak win at No. 1 singles, while Keely O’Gara added an 8-3 victory at No. 3 singles. In doubles play, the Tigers picked up key wins from Brenna Mahurin and Madison Swisher, Penelope Turner and Harper Sadler, and the team of Taytem Robey and Yanisa Kusoolboonpa — all in competitive matches that helped secure the narrow team victory. With another dominant varsity performance and a hard-fought JV win, Triton Central continues to build momentum early in the season. The Tigers won’t have much time to rest, as they return to the court Tuesday evening at New Palestine, with first serve set for 4:30 PM.
