Triton Central picked up its first win of the season Tuesday night, outlasting Beech Grove 12-10 in a high-scoring Hoosier Legends Conference matchup. After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Tigers responded in a big way with a five-run second inning to take control early. Triton Central continued to apply pressure at the plate, adding three runs in the third and another in the fourth. Beech Grove answered with multiple big innings of its own, including three runs in both the third and fourth and another three-run frame in the fifth to keep the game tight. The Tigers entered the bottom of the seventh inning down 10-9 until Brayden Hoover's three-run homer with two outs secured TC's first win of the season. Offensively, Triton Central totaled 10 hits and showed a balanced attack throughout the lineup. Ty Bergman led the way with a 2-for-3 performance, including two doubles, two runs scored, and an RBI. Brayden Hoover delivered a big night at the plate, going 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Brody Hartman added two hits and scored a run, while Luke Strong and Rylan Anderson each contributed a hit and scored twice. The Tigers also showed patience at the plate, drawing four walks and taking advantage of Beech Grove’s four defensive errors. On the mound, Janssen Capps worked 3.2 innings while allowing seven runs (three earned) and striking out six. Brody Hartman earned the win after tossing 3.1 innings, allowing just three runs (none earned) while striking out five and limiting Beech Grove to just one hit. The Tigers will look to keep the momentum going Wednesday night as they travel to Beech Grove for a 5:30 PM first pitch.
