By James Polston | Apr 15, 2026 8:29 AM

TC GIRLS TENNIS BEATS NEW PAL, REMAINS UNBEATEN. Triton Central’s girls tennis team continued its impressive early-season run Tuesday night, earning a hard-fought 5-0 victory on the road at New Palestine to improve to 4-0 on the season. While the final score showed another sweep, the match was anything but easy — especially at the top singles spot. At No. 1 singles, Maryrose Felling delivered the match of the night in a marathon battle against Arabella Deisher. After splitting the first two sets, Felling dug deep and held her composure in a tight super tiebreak, escaping with a 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 victory to give the Tigers an early edge. Anniston Evans followed with a steady and controlled performance at No. 2 singles, winning 6-4, 6-4, while Zhibek Zhumaly continued her strong play this season with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles to complete the sweep on the singles side. Triton Central’s doubles teams sealed the team victory with convincing performances. At No. 1 doubles, Kate Collier and Neve Kahler were sharp throughout, earning a 6-1, 6-3 win. The No. 2 doubles team of Cadence Roberts and Estelle Gearlds also took care of business, pulling away for a 6-4, 6-1 victory. The junior varsity match saw New Palestine come out on top 9-5 in a match filled with competitive play and extended doubles action. Ellie Gast led the way for the Tigers with a strong 8-2 win at No. 1 singles, while several Triton Central doubles teams picked up victories, including the pairings of Morgan Fisher and Gast, Lexi Poole and Anna Kemper, Kenzie Hoover and Ava Copeland, and Lucie Garver and Madison Swisher. Triton Central will look to keep its undefeated streak alive Thursday evening when it hosts Morristown, with matches set to begin at 4:30 PM.
