TC BASEBALL FALLS TO BEECH GROVE ON THE ROAD. Triton Central baseball fell 12-7 to Beech Grove on Wednesday night on the road. Beech Grove came out swinging, plating three runs in both the first and second innings to take an early 6-0 lead. The Hornets added three more in the fourth and continued to apply pressure late, building a double-digit advantage. The Tigers showed fight throughout, breaking through in the third inning and then putting together their best stretch in the middle innings. Triton Central scored three runs in the fourth and added another three in the seventh to close the gap, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. Offensively, Triton Central finished with six hits and made the most of its opportunities late. The Tigers tallied seven runs despite being held without a hit over the final four innings by Beech Grove pitching. Beech Grove’s offense was led by a strong overall team performance, finishing with 12 hits and four home runs on the night. Multiple hitters delivered big RBIs as the Hornets capitalized early and often. On the mound, Beech Grove struck out 17 Triton Central hitters, including 10 over the final four innings, which slowed the Tigers’ comeback efforts. Despite the loss, Triton Central continued to show resilience by battling back late and putting pressure on Beech Grove after falling behind early. With the loss, Triton Central falls to 1-5 on the season and 1-3 in Hoosier Legends Conference play. The Tigers will look to bounce back on Saturday as they travel to Eastern Hancock for a doubleheader, with first pitch of game one scheduled for 10:00 AM.
