GIRLS TRACK & FIELD @ IHSAA REGIONAL #5 (5/26)

TC GIRLS TENNIS FALLS TO CENTER GROVE IN REGIONAL PLAY, END SEASON 20-4. Triton Central’s girls tennis season came to an end Tuesday night in IHSAA Regional No. 6 play, as the Tigers fell 5-0 to a talented Center Grove squad at Center Grove High School. Despite the loss, Triton Central wrapped a very successful season with a 20-4 overall record, highlighted by Hoosier Legends Conference, Shelby County, and IHSAA Sectional championships. At No. 1 singles, Sophia Heck defeated Triton Central senior Maryrose Felling 6-0, 6-0. At No. 2 singles, Sloane Small earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Anniston Evans, while Ragan Small topped Zhibek Zhumaly 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. The Trojans also controlled doubles play. The No. 1 team of Kenna Harbin and Tanya Nadimpalli defeated Kate Collier and Neve Kahler 6-1, 6-0, while Maggie Teed and Maggie Sendelbach earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Estelle Gearlds and Cadence Roberts at No. 2 doubles. Although the season ended in regional play, the Tigers accomplished a great deal throughout the year. Triton Central finished with 20 victories, captured the Hoosier Legends Conference championship, won the Shelby County title, and claimed the IHSAA Sectional No. 24 championship to advance to the regional round. The season was also highlighted by a historic milestone from senior Maryrose Felling, who became Triton Central’s all-time career wins leader earlier in the postseason.
