TC GIRLS SOCCER BEATS BEECH GROVE, REMAIN UNBEATEN IN HLC. The Triton Central girls soccer team battled through a wild Wednesday night at home, defeating Hoosier Legends Conference opponent Beech Grove 3-2 in overtime. Sophomore Maddie Burnett scored all three of Triton Central's goals, including the game-winning goal in the final seconds of overtime. TC took a 1-0 lead into the first weather delay with 16 minutes remaining in regulation. Following the delay, Beech Grove came out firing, scoring twice to take a 2-1 lead. The Tigers answered back with Burnett finding the back of the net to even the match at 2-2 and force overtime. Before the overtime period could get underway, another weather delay pushed the match back once again. When play resumed, both teams battled for the decisive goal as the threat of a penalty-kick shootout loomed. With just seconds remaining in the overtime period, Burnett completed her hat trick, finding the back of the net to give the Tigers a dramatic 3-2 victory and allow TC to avoid a shootout. The win gives Triton Central its third victory of the season and keeps the Tigers perfect in HLC play. TC improves to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the Hoosier Legends Conference. The Tigers will return to action Monday night when they host HLC opponent Shelbyville. The JV match is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM, with the varsity match to follow.
