TC BOYS TENNIS FALLS TO NEW PAL. The Triton Central boys tennis team battled down to the wire Thursday night but came up just short, falling 3-2 to New Palestine in varsity action. The Tigers (11-6) picked up both of their wins in singles play. At No. 1 singles, Janssen Capps continued his strong season with a gritty three-set victory over Carson Rush, pulling out a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win. Brayden Hoover followed at No. 2 singles with a straight-sets victory over Tyler Walter, 6-2, 6-3. New Palestine secured the match by claiming the other three courts. At No. 3 singles, Brock Hehmann outlasted Triton Central’s Bradyn Robinson in another three-set battle, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. The Dragons then swept doubles play, with Luke Bartusek and Gavin Berry defeating Max Crouse and Caleb McGuire at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, 6-2, while Jackson Clark and Davis Harrison topped Drayton Kermode and Graham Gast at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, 6-2. In junior varsity action, New Palestine earned a 10-1 team victory. Triton Central’s lone win came from the doubles pairing of Colton Ayres and Cash Eck, who defeated Cooper Harmon and Lex Schaf, 8-3, at No. 7 doubles. The Tigers, now 11-6 on the season, will return to the courts Saturday morning when they travel to Tri-West for a 10 AM matchup.
