TC BOYS TENNIS SWEEPS BEECH GROVE, CLINCHES INAUGURAL HLC TITLE. The Triton Central boys tennis team capped off a dominant conference campaign Thursday night with a 5-0 sweep over Beech Grove, securing the first-ever boys tennis Hoosier Legends Conference championship in the league’s inaugural season. The Tigers (14-6, 5-0 HLC) were in complete control from start to finish, winning every varsity match in straight sets. At No. 1 singles, Janssen Capps set the tone with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 victory over Beech Grove’s Jake Ryan. Brayden Hoover followed suit at No. 2 singles, matching Capps’ perfection with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Colton Thacker. Bradyn Robinson completed the singles sweep with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 decision over Christian Lozano at No. 3. In doubles play, Max Crouse and Caleb McGuire continued Triton Central’s dominance at No. 1 doubles, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Cooper Wynn and Ismael Carreto. The No. 2 duo of Drayton Kermode and Graham Gast battled through a tight first set before pulling away for a 7-6(7), 6-0 victory over Ryker LeTourneau and Ethan Corbet. The Tigers also swept the junior varsity matches, with Colton Ayres and Talan Canter earning a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles and Owen Rice and Cash Eck claiming a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles. With the win, Triton Central finishes a perfect 5-0 in Hoosier Legends Conference play, clinching the conference championship in the program’s first season under the new league alignment. The Tigers will look to carry their momentum into the postseason as they host Floyd Central on Monday at 4:30 PM in their regular season finale.
