TC FOOTBALL BEATS BEECH GROVE, WINS HLC TITLE OUTRIGHT. Braden Brown delivered another signature performance Friday night, powering Triton Central past Beech Grove 24–20 to secure the inaugural Hoosier Legends Conference championship outright. The Tigers wrapped up their conference slate at 5–0 and improved to 7–1 overall heading into next week’s regular-season finale against Scecina at Arsenal Tech. Brown once again proved to be the difference-maker, accounting for 250 total yards and all three Triton Central touchdowns. The senior rushed 31 times for 180 yards and two scores and completed 5 of 7 passes for 70 yards and another touchdown. Beech Grove struck first with a 20-yard touchdown pass, but Brown responded immediately with a 60-yard touchdown run to even the score at 7–7. In the second quarter, he capped a steady drive with a 3-yard touchdown run to give the Tigers a 14–7 halftime lead. In the third quarter, Brown found Zeke Robertson for an 8-yard touchdown pass, and Nick Tormoehlen’s extra point made it 21–7. The Hornets answered with a long 65-yard strike, but a 39-yard field goal by Tormoehlen early in the fourth quarter stretched the lead to 24–14. Beech Grove’s final touchdown with just minutes remaining cut the margin to four, but Triton Central’s defense — led by Robertson, Traiven Dunbar, and Judea Holt — closed out the win. Robertson had an interception and seven tackles, while Dunbar added a pick and three assists. Tormoehlen was perfect on special teams, going 3-for-3 on extra points and 1-for-1 on field goals, while averaging 35 yards per punt. With the conference title clinched, the Tigers will now turn their attention to the Crusaders. On Saturday, the Triton Central JV squad rolled past Beech Grove 49–6, improving its record to 3–5 on the season.
